Flagship Program
RAM’s advocacy program is the main pillar of the association. It focuses on researching priority business constraints and presenting them through formal dialogue and communication channels at all levels of government and with social partners. Key advocacy actions include: Public–Private dialogue through structured platforms Policy proposals and position papers Workshops, seminars, conferences, and stakeholder engagement Direct engagement with responsible government institutions Collaboration with PSF Secretariat and member associations on cross-cutting and sub-sector issues
Training Program
RAM implements training programs in collaboration with PSF and partner associations to strengthen member capabilities and operational excellence. Typical training areas include: Running small business operations in Rwanda Manufacturing standards within EAC and Great Lakes context Selling within EAC and international markets Tax seminars and compliance sessions Investing in Rwanda Effective business management
Investors Club
RAM’s Investor Services will be delivered through an Investors Club—a networking and information platform for current and potential investors in Rwanda’s manufacturing sector. Support to investors can include: Sector intelligence and investment guidance Productive partnerships with existing businesses Peer-to-peer advice from experienced investors and manufacturers Networking opportunities with members and relevant institutions
Market Information Program
RAM’s market information program focuses on improving access to actionable industry intelligence. Key components include: Development and operation of a Manufacturing Information Database Access to Finance Toolkit and practical guidance for manufacturers, especially SMEs
Key Initiatives & Major Realizations
RAM has delivered notable initiatives, including: Advocacy on: Regulation on the ban of polythene bags Studies on water and electricity tariff increases Skills assessment in the manufacturing sector Review of EAC Common External Tariff Ban of packaging liquor in plastic (PET) bottles East Africa Manufacturers Network establishment and regional policy engagement (launched in Kigali on 29 May 2015) Skills in manufacturing sector assessment (with support from TradeMark East Africa – TMEA) Energy and resource efficiency workshop with University of Stuttgart and UN-Habitat Study tour (Tanzania–Ghana) with International Trade Center (ITC) on barcoding and packaging Africa Industrialization Day organization with MINICOM, UNIDO and partners Manufacturers-Connect monthly platform for networking and dialogue (last Friday of each month)
